5 Best Private Universities in Nigeria

Perhaps one of the most important thing for any parent is that their child goes to the best school, and what's more? If they are being sent to a private school then that should be even better, I attend a private school and prior to attending, I had been to about six different private schools with my family in search of the right one, believe me when I say this five will be best for you.

There are quite a number of private schools, some of which were not in existence before now.

What are the 5 best private schools we have?

1) Covenant University:

This always seem to rank well, even better than so many others on the list and fortunately, this happened to be one of the private schools I visited although I didn't end up staying there due to the fact that they did not have the course I wanted. Here are a few facts about the school:

1- It is located in ota, they have several type of courses and they are known for their excellence amongst other things, the students are well mannered and even their building structures and staffs are respectable. Now, what really makes it the best?

They are known to instill morals and they do not allow phones, despite them not allowing phones in, however, their students can bring in laptops and the school provides WiFi for the student monthly, they need only log in to their portal to be able to use it, the money for this has luckily been included in their school fees. They are allowed to use ipod as well.

Pros: They have well equipped teachers, their labs are properly well catered, they also have systems, ICT labs for those who need it, who were perhaps not able get a system.

Cons: No phones for use for social media or for just regular checkups although there are phones in the hostel which can be used but does not go through all the time hence, payment has to be made for calls which can be pretty expensive.

One cannot cook food as it is prohibited so they do more of buying here which can be pretty expensive.

A list of courses they offer are engineering courses, computer science, architecture, accounting, psychology e.t.c.

2- Babcock University:

Babcock University is a very popular school in Nigeria, and one of the best private universities in the country. Their standard of education is very good and although, their prices are pretty high, they are just right on the money.

It is run by a seven day adventis I.e; Churches take place on sunday and no meat is allowed, they have several churches in the school.

Babcock is comprised of 9 school and 1 college as listed below:

School of Agriculture & Industrial Technology Babcock Business School

College of Health & Medical Sciences

School of Basic & Applied Science (formerly known as Science & Technology)

School of Computing & Engineering Sciences

3- Bowen University:

This University is located in Iwo, Osun state and is founded by the baptist church.

They have a student capacity of about 20,000 but they have roughly about 5,000 student now, it would seem that the school prepared for a huge number of students should the case call for it.

Being that this school is founded by the baptist Church, they are strict to their morals, despite having a sound educational system with creative and innovative technologies, they also ensure their students are allowed to wear just skirts.

However, unlike Covenant University, they allow phones which aids creativity in students.

4- Igbenedion University:

This was one of the first private University to be founded in 1999 and despite the odds, they have managed to stay on till now and maintain their standards. In that time, the odd of a private university staying and even being alive till now seemed propestrous.

It is located in Okada, Edo state and it is named after the founder, Chief Gabriel Osawaru Igbinedion.

This university has lots of courses including medicine and surgery, nursing, law, accounting, management Sciences and a list of other courses in various departments and facilities.

The university has a high standard of education producing very well students.

5- Redeemers University:

This University was ranked by NUC in 2021 as the best private university in Nigeria. It was founded by the Redeemed Christian Church of God(R.C.C.G) and it was first located in Redemption camp, mowe, ogun state before it was moved to its permanent location in Ede, Osun state, Nigeria due to its increasing number of students.

This university is well known for its excellence and for producing reputable students.

It has a homely culture and encourages creativity and entrepreneurship, it encourages the students to be the best version of themselves they can be and encourages creativity with excellence and morals being its core point.

It promotes a healthy place for those who want to grow spiritually and would help boost the academic excellence and spiritual maturity producing well rounded students.
